The

Department of Creative IT Engineering (CiTE) at Pohang University of Science

and Technology (POSTECH, one of the best small and young universities in the

world, e.g., #1 in the Young University (less than 50 years old) rankings for

three consecutive years, 2012-2014) is currently soliciting applications for

tenure-track faculty positions in IT-related areas including Smart Computing, Smart

Devices and Systems, and IT-based Future Healthcare.  Appointments at all levels will be considered.

POSTECH’s CiTE offers BS and Ph.D. degrees. World-class

faculty members with diverse disciplinary backgrounds and various research

themes actively perform high-risk and high-impact research and nurture future innovators

and leaders.  Incoming CiTE students have

been ranked in the top 1% of high school students in Korea. To establish a

strong hardware infrastructure and a unique culture of excellence that

facilitate innovative education and research endeavors, our state-of-the-art building

named C⁵ (Creative, Collaborative, Cultivating,

Convergence Center) was completed in 2015 and became the home of CiTE. Successful candidates are expected to

engage in multidisciplinary and student-centered education in CiTE and perform pioneering

research to solve difficult unmet needs, open up new frontiers and create a

better future via teamwork.

Research

areas of interest in Smart Computing include computer vision, data science, big

data processing and machine learning while those in Smart Devices and Systems

include energy harvesting system. 

Efficacious diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices, medical imaging

and IT-enabled healthcare are several research areas of interest in IT-based

Future Healthcare.  We would particularly

welcome those candidates who have experience in technology commercialization.

We

encourage interested candidates for a target starting date of early 2017 to

submit the following: (1) CV with a list of at least 3 references, (2)

Statement on education and plan, (3) Research plan, and (4) Up to 5
